The End of a Chapter in My Professional Life

At the start of this week I closed the book on my first ever project. Its a strange feeling, a mixture of pride, excitement and exhaustion. The project was also close to my feelings as I personally worked on the machine in question myself at the Brockmoor Foundry, in fact, its the machine I started on.
The project started when i was approached by a company director who asked me to write up my thoughts and visions of how to quicken up changeovers on this machine. I was given a deadline of 2 weeks to put all my together and present them to him. I spent many hours looking at ideas and tools that we use to make these changeovers not only quicker but more predictable and less hassle for the setters. I presented my ideas to the director and he added things to the project and advised where to go from here.
I presented the project to around 7 - 8 people and explained the aims of the project and how i wanted everything to plan out. I also gave my figures of how much the changeover could be shortened. I worked it out as from around 2.5 hours to 1, by using SMED and making as many activities external as possible along side making less obstructions and more accessible tools.
The project took on extra tasks and we added some tools from Continuous improvement such as 5S, Poka Yoke, Lean, JIT, SMED. After a few weeks the project aims had been completed.
Now that my first project is completed I am looking forward to my next challenge, which I hope to be the second of many projects.
The details of the project are on my LinkedIn page, feel free to connect with me and have a look.
Thanks for reading and it would be great if you would comment the details and highs / lows of your first projects.
